Mikey Thomas (b. 1999, Stockport, UK) is an artist living and working in Manchester. He studied for his BA at Manchester School of Art and was the Freelands Studio Fellow at Bath School of Art throughout 2023.

Thomas utilises painting as a medium to navigate subjects such as facade, grammatical person, territorialisation, and labour. In his work, painting operates as a technology where symbolic systems collide with materiality. He expands upon the canonised palette with a non-hierarchical approach to material, incorporating pigment, construction materials, myth, and miscellaneous images. Writing plays a fundamental role in his process, serving both as a reflective outcome and as a tool for shaping its internal logic.
